Your Opportunity + Impact
The SkillBridge Project Manager Intern supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of multidisciplinary projects within a master planning, programming, landscape architecture, and GIS services environment. Working alongside planners, landscape architects, and GIS professionals, this role supports projects for federal, state, and local government agencies as well as private-sector clients. The position provides hands-on experience applying PMI-aligned project management practices to real-world AEC projects, including federal master planning, parks and trails, and ArcGIS-enabled planning initiatives, while preparing service members for a successful transition to a civilian project management career.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports all phases of the project lifecycle, from planning and execution through monitoring and closeout.
- Coordinates project activities across planning, landscape architecture, and GIS disciplines.
- Assists with development and tracking of project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Supports cost tracking, forecasting, and earned value management activities.
- Assists with contract administration, consultant coordination, and procurement activities, including public-sector contracts.
- Helps implement project quality standards and participates in quality reviews.
- Prepares project status updates and reports for internal teams and government clients.
- Maintains accurate project documentation in accordance with company and federal requirements.
- Supports client and stakeholder communication to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Collaborates with technical leads and discipline managers to support staffing and workload coordination.
SkillBridge Eligibility
- Must be an active-duty U.S. service member eligible to participate in the DoW SkillBridge Program.
- Preferred Education (candidates without this education will still be eligible for this program): Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Must meet all applicable service-specific SkillBridge requirements.
- Must receive approval through the appropriate chain of command before the program start date.
- Must be within the authorized SkillBridge transition window before separation or retirement.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
- Ability to interact with clients, project team, vendors, and other external groups in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates a strong desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook) and MS Projects or Primavera.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
