Your Opportunity + Impact
The Practice Manager oversees the successful delivery of professional services within the practice by leading and coordinating technical and project management teams. This role is responsible for managing all technical aspects of project execution, including design quality, scope, scheduling, budgeting, and overall financial performance. The Practice Manager provides leadership to technical teams to ensure that project delivery goals are achieved efficiently and to a high standard. Additionally, this position contributes to broader business objectives by developing and implementing annual goals and assisting in the preparation of multi-year strategic business plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster an open, collaborative environment that supports staff learning, growth, and advancement.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and direct reports, providing guidance on professional development, compensation, training, and skill acquisition.
- Engage in regular conversations with staff regarding performance, goals, and career direction, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with managers, peers, clients, and contractors to support interdisciplinary project needs and successful delivery.
- Participate in marketing and client development initiatives, maintaining existing strategic relationships while identifying opportunities to develop new clients.
- Review and approve submittals, proposals, and presentations, ensuring alignment with project objectives and quality standards.
- Oversee contract scopes, schedules, and budgets within the practice, executing agreements and subcontracts in accordance with corporate policies.
- Prepare workload forecasts and staffing plans to ensure resource needs are met efficiently.
- Contribute to the preparation of strategic and annual business plans and budgets, and work with staff to achieve established goals.
- Monitor contracts, subcontracts, and change orders to ensure compliance with established procedures and financial accuracy.
- Support project managers in assessing project financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Supervise technical staff, including timesheet approvals, performance reviews, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Promote and enforce quality assurance and quality control processes to improve deliverable quality and minimize design errors or omissions.
- Provide guidance, training, and ongoing support to staff to enhance technical expertise, design capabilities, and overall professional growth.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor or Master’s Degree in position relevant Engineering/ Architectural field from ABET or NAAB accredited school preferred, Landscape Architecture, or related field of study.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years’ job-related experience.
- Licensure/Certification: PE, RA, PLA, PLS, or other professional licensure in field of expertise strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrates a strong desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
- Ability to interact with clients, project team, vendors, and other external groups in a professional manner.
