Your Opportunity + Impact
The Senior Environmental Specialist interacts with clients, vendors, and staff to ensure project goals are met. This position works as a member of a team to help identify and solve complex environmental issues. This position helps to ensure the success of clients & projects and closely interacts with clients and fellow team members to ensure total client satisfaction is obtained while meeting financial goals. The Sr. Environmental Specialist applies fundamental principles of environmental sciences to inspection, investigation, and monitoring activities and may oversee technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs and/or coordinates field work schedules to include preparing schedules and assigning tasks for staff.
- Interacts with clients, the public, design teams, and agencies.
- Closely tracks time spent on tasks and projects to ensure accurate reporting.
- Works closely with and fosters positive relationships among the team.
- Oversees preparation and submission of environmental reports and other permitting.
- Recognizes opportunities for new projects and assists Technical and Project Managers with developing leads into new business.
- Assists with or performs annual staff performance reviews and career development.
- Participates in client development activities as directed.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members, helping them develop technical skills and professional growth.
- Maintains professional certifications in fields of expertise as needed.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge and experience of permitting and regulatory requirements relative in OH, PA, NY, or WV. Permits include, Chapter 102, 105, Section 404, Nationwide, and NEPA
Education and Experience
- Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field of study; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of seven (7) year’s job-related experience.
- Experience: Knowledge in Wetland Delineation, Threatened and Endangered Species, Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments, Infiltration Testing, Hazardous Waste Remediation
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrates a strong desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the field.
- Proficient with ArcGIS, Auto CAD and handheld GPS and other field-testing equipment, including maintenance procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and other external sources.
